EiHF- Earthly Inorganic Humane Forms (2023)
-Ongoing Project
In contemporary times, water is stored, distributed, and transferred artificially. Excessive consumption is a major cause of depletion, yet demand grows as the world population increases. Over 90% of the water on Earth is unusable for humans and we rely on just 1%. However, approximately 70% of Earth's freshwater is stored in ice and glaciers, and the remaining 30% is in the ground aquifers.
As ice and glaciers are remote from the urban environment, it is difficult to keep in mind the extreme speed water is being consumed in the current way of life for the majority of the world's population. Global warming results in the loss of freshwater due to the melt of ice and glaciers in which freshwater for future generations is stored. As an artist, I attempt to deliver an ecocentric scope.
Earthly Inorganic Humane Form (prototype) brings water circulation in visualization. The sculptural object is assembled by 7 wooden sheets, indicating 7 continents, all together symbolizing the interconnectedness of Land. Following graphical methods, Lines are planned to be taped on the wooden sheets. Here, water distribution, virtual water import/export, and water cycle are planned to be depicted. Doing so the object embodies agency in a demographic manner. Each sheet is designed to be assembled and dismantled without the use of screwdrivers.
